I completed my Undergraduate degree (BSc Psychology) in Chester and a Master’s degree in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of York. I then moved to Â鶹ֱ²¥ to join the Mathematics Education Centre and completed my PhD (Mathematics Education) there in 2022, which was focused on how numerical meaning is attached to novel artificial symbols.
I am now a postdoctoral Research Associate working in the Centre for Early Mathematics Learning. Specifically, I am working on the centre’s Challenge 1, mainly looking at how key mathematical understanding emerges.
I am particulalry interested in how children begin to learn about and understand mathematical concepts, and how this develops over time. I am also interested in how broader thinking and langugage skills affect their learning and mathematical deveopment.
