Â鶹ֱ²¥ Lightning club captain Kayleigh Hines has left the club with immediate effect to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Â鶹ֱ²¥ Lightning Head Coach Charles Baxter had this to say about Hines' departure:

“Considering the start to the season we’ve had, I’d be lying if I said Kayleigh’s decision to depart the club didn’t come as a shock.

Whilst I’m disappointed Kayleigh has decided to leave this great club, I understand that people have to make decisions that they feel are best for themselves.

Whilst we will miss Kay and wish her the best, I have full faith in my squad, and I am excited to see this incredibly talented, passionate and committed group of players take this club forward into what will be a new and exciting chapter for the club.

We would like to thank Kayleigh for her time and contribution to the club during her 2 years with Â鶹ֱ²¥ Lightning.”

With Hines' departure, however, the club are proud to announce that Sarah Woodbyrne has been appointed as Â鶹ֱ²¥ Lightning’s new club captain.

Baxter had this to say about Sarah’s appointment:

“Sarah is the perfect embodiment of the spirit, passion, and commitment that our club values, and we are excited for Sarah to lead the team into a new era of continued success on and off the pitch.”

New captain Sarah Woodbyrne said the following:

“Best wishes to Kay, and many thanks for everything she has done for this team.

I am prepared and excited to step up and take on the role of captain; we have a highly strong and ambitious squad that will continue to strive forward, and I am pleased to lead it.

We want to keep playing our best, win as many games as possible, and outperform ourselves from last season.”
